Community Guidelines
Many people don't like rules, and we understand that. But to produce an enjoyable outcome for all members of The Realms of Ectoria, there have to be some ground rules laid down for you all. You may think of them as guidelines, but please understand that if you fail to abide by each individual point following this introduction, you may be subject to a temporary or even permanent ban from either the server, the forums, or both. The guidelines included on this post are very basic and should not be difficult to follow, but we ask you to read the RP Rules located on this board.
The Server
The Server
Do:
- Respect your fellow players and staff members.
- Have fun on the server by utilizing all aspects of it.
- Get to know the community well.
- Enjoy the RP and its periodic special events.
- Remember to stay in character while in the default Local chat.
Don't:
- Make offensive comments or sexual references through building or chat (i.e. sexism, racism. homophobia, etc.)
- Harass other players.
- Utilize strong language and obscenities in the chat. There are younger players on this server who may not be accustomed to strong language, so please clean all filthy mouths out with soap before logging in. The only curse words allowed on the server are damn, bastard, and ass in some cases. The aforementioned words may only be used in RP, as they were legitimate curses in the Dark Ages. If you happen to have knowledge of any other curses used in that era that are not considered vulgar or obscene in the English language today, such as slubberdegullion, helminth, and scullion, please feel free to use them as necessary.
- Use unapproved game-changing client modifications or hacks/hacking launchers. This includes, but is not limited to: sprint hacking, fly hacking, AimBot, XRay, and NODUS.
- Create multiple accounts without permission from the server operators and owners.
- Blame your actions on someone "using your account". As there is no direct way to verify this, you must take responsibility for your own actions.
- Grief landscape, player homes, establish towns, or lone buildings. Griefing will not be tolerated under any circumstances with the exception of raids and sackings. Griefing includes, but is not limited to: destroying blocks placed by other players, placing blocks in player structures without permission, flooding structures and buildings, building one-block towers, leaving floating trees on the landscape, and destroying crops on open terrain without replanting.
- Attempt to bypass chest protections, WorldGuard, and any other protective plugin intended to keep players out of areas they don't belong. The sole exception of this is circumventing Towny protections to enter towns you are not allowed to be in, as this is considered an important RP feature. Failure to comply with this guideline will result in ban without appeal.
- Advertise other servers in the chat box.
- Spam the chat box.
- Troll other players. Trolling is something that no one likes or wants to experience in a server, and we will do our best to keep that aspect out of our community. Please note that playful humor and pranking is allowed, but not at the expense of others' extreme annoyance and anger.
- Give out your own or others' personal information without the express permission of the person in context.
- Build structures resembling genitalia. We expect a certain level of maturity from our players and do not want to deal with server members who feel the need to express their immaturity through obscene constructions.
- Impersonate staff members. This is intolerable under any circumstances; failure to comply with this guideline will result in ban without appeal.
The Forums
Do:
Don't:
- Enjoy interacting with the community through the ProBoards forum host.
- Have fun making posts about both server and non-server related material.
- Educate yourself in lore and legend unique to Ectoria.
- Show respect to your fellow players.
Don't:
- Advertise other websites, businesses, or servers by making posts in Off Topic. Promotion of other servers is permitted in your signature, but please keep in mind that we want to keep our community without having to worry about losing players to other servers.
- Use strong or obscene language. There are younger players in our community who may not be used to strong language, and some of us may even feel offended by being the subjected to and/or witnessing curses. Non-vulgar medieval curses are allowed in speech, as are the aforementioned words damn, bastard, and ass in some situations.
- Troll other players on the forums. Again, this is a major annoyance on most servers and is not something we wish to bring here.
- Attack others personally on the forums. By this we mean "crossing the line" in an argument. While friendly debates are allowed, we do not tolerate cutting people down by insulting any personal aspect of their lives. If this occurs on any thread, all violating conversation will be remove from the post.
- Argue with the staff members on important matters. If you have a complaint that is not a player report, please send it to us via PM in a respectful manner. We will take it from there. Keep in mind that the staff does have the final word, and although we do not like to exercise that absolute power we will do so without hesitation if necessary.
- Post duplicate threads. If you are not sure where to place a thread, please make a single decision as to where you want it put. If it's in the wrong place, the forum staff members will move the post to its proper location. Duplicate threads create unwanted confusion, so please do your best to prevent that.
- Create multiple accounts on the forums. Dual and triple-accounting is not allowed under any circumstances, as each account here represents a single Minecraft account on the server. You shouldn't have more than one account on the server anyway, so why have more than one on the forums? If you forget your password and feel the urge to just give up after guessing and make another account, we ask that you use the password recovery tool located in the login section of the forums. If you still cannot log in, please contact us via email and we will try to get your account working again.
